Arrowbear Scholarship applications will be available beginning February 1, 2019, on our web site at www.arrowbearmusicassoc.org. You can type your information directly into the interactive screen, and then print it out all ready to go. You can also contact our Scholarship Chairperson Laura Kusaba at 562-634-5158 or by email at Lkusaba@sbcglobal.net to request a paper application after February 1. Last summer we granted $59,368 in scholarships to 70 recipients. Most scholarships awarded are partial scholarships. There are a limited number of full scholarships available. We grant scholarships to both choral and instrumental applicants. Recipients are chosen based on both need and merit. Nearly all of our recipients would not have been able to attend a summer music camp without financial assistance. Applications are due in mid-April. We notify all applicants by the middle of May. The process includes a written application, a recording of a solo with or without accompaniment on a CD or flash drive, a letter written by the applicant explaining why he or she needs a scholarship, and a recommendation letter from a private or school music teacher. Please be sure of your summer plans before you apply for a scholarship. Once awarded, scholarships are not transferable to another session, music camp, or person. Recipients are expected to attend the entire session.
We’d really like to encourage choral
campers to apply for a scholarship. There is one full scholarship available,
and we offer partial scholarships to other choral applicants. We’ve been sadly
lacking in choral applicants every year. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to
have all or part of your fees paid for by alumni. Take a look at our web site
after Feb. 1 for the directions for recording your audition tape.
Sponsor a Scholarship
We currently have 14 special scholarships sponsored by individuals or businesses. These special scholarships are awarded in their own name, the name of a loved one, or in the name of their business or organization. We are willing to work with you to create a scholarship for a specific age group, instrument, or section such as winds, brass, strings, etc. We will discuss options with you on how to fund the scholarship. Special scholarships should provide at least half of the cost of a session. Please contact Laura Kusaba at 562-634-5158 or by email at LKusaba@sbcglobal.net if you are interest
